In Manchester – Gong Hey Fat Choy!
That’s Happy New year in Chinese and Manchester is the place to be to help celebrate. The festivities begin on January 28th and will go for about 15 days. The Chinese sure know how to bring in the New Year. 2017 is the year of the Rooster.
The Manchester celebration is the biggest in the UK and this year they will have an exhibit that has travelled around the world to help bring in the New Year. The Lanterns of the Terracotta Warriors will help light up the nights in Manchester and along with a 50 foot Golden Dragon, food stalls and traditional performances, this is surely the place to be in late January.
History with LEGO in Newcastle
Before you wander into the Newcastle Life Science Centre, you can go ice skating at the rink there, so make sure you pack your skates. When the cold gets a bit much for you and your bottom a bit sore from all the falls, you can wander inside and look at just how creative you can get with LEGO bricks. They have models of the sinking of the Titanic and the moon landing by Apollo 11, to name a couple.
The annual famous exhibition will again be at the Centre – the Animal Inside Out exhibit includes 100 different set ups.

Celebrate the Birthday of Robbie Burns in Dumfries
Scotland’s favourite poet and writer Robbie Burns is honoured by his birthday celebrations around the world. The date is January 25th and they do it well in Dumfries. Live music, performing artists and the annual tale of Tam O’Shanter are all part of the celebrations starting January 22nd.
