Every ski enthusiast knows that the best trips are those that you’ve prepared for, so making sure that you’ve packed the essentials is a must. However there’re certain items that every skier needs if you plan to have a memorable trip.

Here are 5 top items to ensure that you have an amazing time on the slopes.

A HIGH QUALITY MENS SKI JACKET

Packing a ski jacket may seem like an obvious item to pack, but not all jackets are created equal. Investing in a high quality men’s ski jacket is a must for any trip. Full of useful pockets, waterproof, and designed for the tough environment of the slopes. It’s a no brainer.

A WARM HAT

Easy to forget but you need to keep your head and ears protected. You may be warm waiting for the ski lift, but traversing the slopes is a different matter. Take a hat; your ears will thank you for it.

WATERPROOF SKI TROUSERS

Anybody who skies will tell you that falling over is inevitable. This being the case you need waterproof ski trousers. These will not only keep you dry, but warm also. Normal trousers or jeans will not cut it, and will leave you feeling cold and wet.

SUNGLASSES OR GOGGLES

Unless you’re okay with not being able to see where you’re going you need something to protect your eyes. Either sunglasses or goggles will be fine, though goggles give better visibility if it starts to snow. Which is a very real possibility when skiing.

A DAY RUCKSACK

If you’re spending all day on the slopes the last thing you want is to head back to the lodge for anything. This is why you should always take a good day rucksack. You want something that’s small enough not to impede you fun, but big enough to keep any essentials with you that don’t fit into your pockets. This is the ideal place to keep your refreshments, sunscreen, spare socks, and that all-important camera. Just make sure that it fits over your ski jacket.
