When it comes to planning for a trip there is a lot that goes into it. Are you taking the kids along? Is it a business trip? What is the weather going to be like?
You need to know where you are going and what you’ll be doing while you are there. These things all add up to what you need to pack to take with you. And then, how you are traveling will also determine how much stuff you take with you.
Where You Are Going And How You’ll Get There
Pilots aren’t the only ones that need charts and maps when it comes to flying places. You may want to pull out a map of your own in order to determine where it is you want to go, whether you are flying or driving. And then, if you are flying or taking a bus, you’ll want to look into the stops they’ll be making for changeovers as well, and how long it may be between flights or busses.
If you are driving yourself, you may want to factor in some extra stops on the way to your final destination, for sightseeing or to check out some tourist traps. No matter where you’re going or how you’re getting there, you need to plan ahead in order to pack and make sure you have all the important gear needed. You wouldn’t want to go rock climbing without the right safety gear, right?
Creating Your Itinerary
If you go on a cruise they supply an itinerary for you, which lets you know when breakfast is and when yoga class is, etc. You need to do the same for yourself on any vacation. This helps make sure you get to fit in all of the things that you want to do.
You need to make sure to remember that things don’t always go as planned though, and you may find yourself editing your itinerary once in awhile, but that’s life.
Packing What You Need
Packing for your vacation can be one of the most stressful parts of trip planning, especially if you are flying. These days you can barely take one bag on a flight for free, and the charges for too much baggage can, well, be too much. However, you need to make sure you have everything you need for your trip or you’ll be spending fun money on things like sunscreen and toothpaste.
Make a list of everything you are going to need and then check items off as you pack them. You may even want to double check your list. You may also want to do some online research to make sure you’re bringing everything you need. If you’re hiking in the desert you don’t want to forget our snake bite kit! Get it?
